Adam Frehm comes from a family of artists. His
grandfather, Walter Frehm was the leading illustrator for the famous Ripley's
Believe It Or Not. Adam's great uncle Leonard Frehm (Walter's
brother) founded the Westport School of Photography in Connecticut, and
both Adam's father and uncle are photographers.
When Adam began high school, his father gave him his old 35mm Minolta
camera. This was his first step into the world of serious photography.
He quickly became an avid photographer and, at fourteen years of age he
took his first photography class. Throughout his sophomore through senior
years in high school he headed a team of seven photographers while working
as the photo editor on the yearbook staff. Adam attended the University
of Vermont where he attained his Bachelor of Science degree in 1994. During
and after college he focused on black and white photography and developed
and printed all of his work in a darkroom that he built in his house.
For the past ten years Adam has been studying the art of digital photography
and printmaking. Besides his scenic and journalistic work, Adam excels
at photographing live musical performances and has worked as a photographer
at several national music festivals. He also enjoys photographing weddings,
portraits, architecture, and special events throughout the United States.
Adam's work has been published in the New York Times, Vermont Magazine,
Woodstock Magazine, Vermont Life, Seven Days and many online publications.

Photography and Photography
Vermont are the names
I chose to share my photography with the world. At first glance Photography
Vermont may imply a love for photographing the beauty found only in Vermont,
but my vision for Photography Vermont extends well beyond the borders
of my home state and the country in which I live.
My love for photography began at an early age. As a boy I was fascinated
by my father's black and white prints. These were the first artistic,
photographic images I can remember seeing. Over time, photography has
evolved into one of my deep passions and my career. Much of my work involves
photographing weddings and portraits, which is always a great honor for
me. I enjoy every opportunity I have to get to know new people and to
share such wonderful moments together. I do enjoy working with many different
subjects, and I'm greatly drawn to nature and journalistic photography.
I love hiking and am fascinated by nature's diverse beauty. Nature photo
shoots are a form of meditation for me. Witnessing such intensely beautiful
moments in time, through the lens of my camera, is like trying to capture
a vision in a dream. I enjoy traveling and photographing just about everything,
especially people and their way of life. Being blessed by positive interactions
whether a look or a smile, the exchange of some words, or a great conversation,
is the real magic for me. It is a feeling that is indescribable. It is
my hope to bring some of this feeling to the viewer through all of my
images. In my opinion, these moments in time are little gifts. I hope
you will agree. I invite you to open yourself to the possibility of feeling
and dreaming through the world of photography.
